I've been a member of Strength Union for over a year now and training here is the best. The coaches are upbeat, knowledgeable and kind.
I especially appreciate how well organized everything is. The gym just got new Strength Co and Rogue bumper plates. Fellow gym members & staff do a good job keeping the place tidy too. I've never had to unrack someone else's barbell, phew! This gym has everything you need for powerlifting.

If you're looking for a place to learn how to lift properly and feel like you're part of a team, I highly recommend the Barbell Club at Strength Union. The coaches know what they're doing. If you’re brand new to powerlifting, booking a session with Jordan to go over the basics first is worth the money. It makes everything feel far less intimidating. If you’re on the fence about joining, just do it. You’ll love it.
The gym is owned by Jordan and you can tell he cares about his clients. Also, shout out to Nick! He's always hyping everyone up and makes the space feel even more supportive and fun.

As a newbie to strength training and a 42 year old mom of two children under five, I was both anxious and apprehensive about starting at a gym. I was quickly relieved after meeting Coach Nick for a free visit to Strength Union. The space itself has high ceilings and a garage door that can be opened, giving it a spacious and welcoming feel. The members are friendly, knowledgeable and nonjudgemental and, despite me not feeling I fit the criteria of a strength gym, make me feel I belong there. Coach Nick has a confident, vibrant and kind vibe about him. I signed up for 2 months of personal training with him during which I learned how to safely and properly lift. Each time I got stuck, he had a seemingly magic tip that would allow me to progress.
I now have the passion and basic skills I need to make strength training a part of the rest of my life.

Excellent facility! Was in Portland on vacation but needed somewhere to train while there. Jordan was very responsive and accommodating. I train at 5 am and that was not a problem at all (even Saturday and Sunday). They had everything I needed and more.
I observed some of their members' number on the wall and I can tell there are a lot of folks getting strong there from all levels of strength. I did not personally train with any of the coaches but if the interactions I had are any indication, this is a very welcoming place. Whether you live in or around Portland, or are just in town for a bit, stay out of the box gyms and check out Strength Union!

In less than a year Nick Anderson (trainer, ANDO) and the SU/NLB community has helped me get stronger, lose 40lb, gain incredible muscle/definition, along with happiness, self confidence, energy, sense of community and FUN! There are not enough words, Thank you and to anyone reading this JOIN!
